Summer Camp 2013

AUSTIN, TX - The annual NVTO SummerCamp took place recently in Austin, Texas, over the weekend of July 20-21, 2013. More than 40 practitioners representing 7 NVTO-affiliated schools from across the country converged for a weekend filled with 8 hours of hands-on training. Participants engaged in a mix of fighting applications, reflex training, street self-defense, anti-grappling, and refinement of their skills.

Conducting testing at the seminar were Sifu Kenny Felton (4th degree) and Sifu Robert George (4th degree), both of the NVTO HQ. Over the weekend, a total of 25 participants advanced in rank, including Jim Gillentine of the Dallas school and Andrew Lucchesi of Austin, both of whom passed the rigorous test for 2nd Degree Instructor. Additionally, four assistant instructors completed the test for Sg 12 (Gary Mowbray, Avi White, Jason Miller and James Adams). These four will now begin the arduous preparation for the 1st Instructor Degree test.

Winter Camp 2013

AUSTIN, TX - At the NVTO headquarters in Texas, the beginning of the year means the WinterCamp seminar which took place on the weekend of March 1-3, 2013.

On Friday, Master Webb taught a 6-hour instructor training course, followed by the 8-hour general seminar which took place on Saturday and Sunday. The nearly 40 students and instructors attending received instruction and correction from Dai-Sifu Webb and senior members of the NVTO team which included Sifu Robert Jacquet (4th degree), Sifu Kenny Felton (4th degree), and Sifu Robert George (4th degree). The event was typical for one of the big seminars at the NVTO headquarters, well-attended and enjoyed by all. For those advanced practitioners working towards instructor ranks, the bulk of Sunday consisted of testing hands-on with several senior instructors. All elements of their training were put to the test including forms, chi-sau, and fighting ability.

Virginia Seminar and Expo

ABINGDON, VA - August 24-26, 2012 was a busy weekend for Western Masters Martial Arts, which is nestled in the heart of the Great Appalachian Valley.

On Friday and Saturday, Master Webb was in town to conduct a 2-day seminar for Mark Pickels and the NVTO students at WMMA. Accompanying him were Houston-based instructor Nick Pickus (1st degree), along with assistant instructors Gary Mowbray and Avi White from the Austin school. The seminar was successful and the training so well received, that Master Webb was asked to return within the next few months.
